Digital SLR Cameras?

Hello fellow photographers!

I'm considering getting a Digital SLR camera for Christmas. However, I have no idea what to look for in them.

I want to get one that's fairly user friendly but is still pretty good. I was thinking about a Nikon but I don't know.

Advice? Thanks!
